Just a quick pic of tonight’s work. The models are primed white, and the first (test) building is coming along pretty well. The flat roof is removable to place models inside, and there will be an external flight of steps at the back to access the roof, as well as roofed goods storage area.
If it works, I will put up a tutorial on how I did it. All comments at this stage gratefully received.

Looks awesome. And big plus for the nifty smileyfaces in the back:)
I would file the ends of the planks/boards. The thin “strips” at the end ruins the illusion that otherwise looks so awesome. What did you use for boards? (I am guessing Popsicle “handles”)
LOL! I didn’t notice I’d got the smiley faces in the photo.
I would file the board ends, but it would turn a 3 hour job into a 4 hour one, or more. I will take a dremel with a sander to the exposed beam ends at the front of the boardwalk and on top of the roof, but otherwise I am hoping the paintjob will disguise it all.
I got a box of about a gazillion ‘craft sticks’ (lolly pop sticks we call ‘em here) for £8. Should last me for about four of these. I used matchsticks for the window and door frames. The building itself is simply a papier mache tissue box that cost £3 from Hobbycraft: surprisingly sturdy. I will make the rest out of foamcore, however.
Very cool.
My wife and I are getting into the game, and I’m definitely looking forward to putting together some fun terrain for the games.
With so few models needed to play a game, you can really go to town on the terrain. Hope to see some examples up on your blog soon
